The board of Trustees of Lilavati Hospital and Research Center organized a cultural event to support the cause “Save and Empower the Girl Child” at the Grand Sangam Ballroom, JW Marriot, Juhu, Mumbai.
With musical and dance performances included the highlight of the event a spectacular fashion show by the renowned designer Manish Malhotra with eminent personalities from various spheres of life walking the ramp along with their young children or siblings. Also present to support the cause were Kiran And Sunil Datwani , Rhea Pillai with daughter Aiyana and Leander Paes, Sheetal Mafatlal looking beautiful in a Manish Malhotra saree, Malti Jain, Nisha Merchant, Poonam Mahajan, Siddhant Kapoor, shraddha Kapoor, Poonam Soni, Renuka Shahane, Pam Chopra , Shama Sikander, Kunika Lal, Aashish Chowdhary, Rajeshwari Badola, Gary Richardson, Lucky Morani, Chetan Mehta, Rajesh Kohli, Marc Robinson, Lubna Adam, Vijay Singh, etc Manish Malhotra strongly believes having in reaching out to people from all walks of life with his garments.
Kajol dressed in a Manish Malhotra white saree with vibrant borders went up on stage and pledged her support to the cause as did Sushmita Sen.
Sushmita Sen make a grand entry on ramp in a signature Mansih Malhotra long kurta worn over a ghagra with Kashmiri zari work as well as zardosi and repeated the walk along with her little daughter who enjoyed the spotlight .
The MM collection traced the birth of the Indian girl child from soft shades to vibrant hues signalling her arrival into womanhood.
The show started with male and female models showing the Manish Malhotra latest line .Celebrities walking in support of the cause were doctors , actors Neha Dhupia, Shreya Saran, Maria Goretti, Mandira Bedi, Poonam Mahajan, Shaina NC , Alka Yagnik & daughter, daughter, Zarine Khan and Farah Khan, Mini Mathur, Dipanita Sharma Anuradha Prasad, Padmini Kolhapuri along with her two sisters Tejaswani and Shivangi , Krishika Lulla, Deepshika, Zeba Kohli, Anjali Mukherjee with her daughters, Nisha Jamwal, Vandana Lulla, Shaifali Ujjwal, Pallavi Joshi, Sarah Khan, etc and of course Poonam Dhillon, who put together the evening .
Guest of honour was Mr. Suresh Shetty, Honourable Minister (Public Health, Family Welfare & Protocol) Government of Maharashtra.
Said the designer, “A baby girl…one of the most beautiful miracles in one’s life. This is an opportunity to reach out to people at large.
So I am not just dressing celebrities and models but respected doctors and politicos too, the show is about real people.
Everyone has come forward with a genuine desire to support and create awareness towards the cause.
